The magic of a child
‘s face lighting up as they hear their own name recorded
on a CD is a true delight for anyone to see.
In our nursery rhyme CD the children sing along
to 21 traditional nursery rhymes. Six poems, including The Owl
and the Pussycat, are narrated.
We were so lucky in Katherine Bergin both writing
and narrating our story ‘On the Big Red Bus’. Katherine,
herself a primary school teacher, invited her children, Sam, Peter,
Clare and Lucy to help her with the story and you can hear them
together with their friends, Lauren, Greg, David and Rebecca singing
and laughing on their journey into nursery rhyme land! We also
recorded the beautiful voice of a young and talented singer, Lauren
Parkin, and the dulcet tones narrating The Owl and the Pussycat
are from Katherine’s father, Peter Simkins.
The CD is aimed at the Under 5s and Katherine takes
the children on a magical journey on the big red bus through nursery
rhyme land. They meet Humpty Dumpty, the Grand old Duke of York,
the Queen of Hearts, Old King Cole, Jack and Jill and many, many
others. Listeners cannot help but join in to ‘row, row,
row your boat gently down the stream….’ or to be a
‘little teapot short and stout……’ until
finally Hickory Dickory Dock tells them it’s nearly bedtime
and they hop back on the bus for it is time to go home.
We guarantee the CD will be over 50 minutes of fun
and adventure where the children hear their own name spoken 15
times. The only problem we can foresee is that Lucy (Katherine’s
youngest daughter, aged 2) does not want to believe that anyone
else can possibly be called Lucy - this is really her CD –
but then that is the whole purpose of a personalised gift –
it is the one and only!
